Jazz, Folk, Classical, and Especially Everything in Between
I love music. I love a lot of different styles of music. And I love a lot of different instruments. Starting with classical violin at age six and having done a Master's degree in jazz bass on the way I have played more than a dozen different instruments in a wide range of groups, from a symphonic orchestra via freejazz projects to traditional dance music. Currently I am focusing on mandolin, irish flute, guitar and double bass, playing mostly music that's somewhere in between jazz and folk. Somewhere along the way I also picked up soundengineering, doing live and studio recordings and mixing.
Have a look at some of my current and past projects:
Rüegger Schraff Duo
A duo formed by two multi-instrumentalists who enjoy crossing musical borders. Inspirations are taken in Scandinavian and celtic traditional music aswell as in contemporary jazz, combining dancing tunes with a playfull mindset full of improvisation.
Rüegger Kirchhofer Guggenheim (2017 - 2019)
The Trio of Andrea Kirchhofer (fiddle), Jonas Guggenheim (accordion) and Pascal Rüegger (guitar, dance instruction) played traditional music from all across europe for private events and parties, if desired with ad hoc dance instruction for everyone.
KNEP (2014 - 2019)
Knep was a duo based on scandinavian music and silly hairy stuff. It was a guitar, an irish flute, a fiddle and a nyckelharpa. It was a debate about octopi on stage. It was a solution for how to wear a hat. It was a revolutionary way of surviving in cold conditions. Find out more!
